This commonly seen variant of verrucosum is often seen in mid and sometimes lower elevations in northern Ecuador throughout the choco. It is often regarded as the “blue form” verrucosum due to the more blue coloring it has in its foliage which is a characteristic of this species when growing in lower lighting conditions.
