A fairly common species seen throughout the north Ecuadorean choco we have select clones from western Pichincha. This classic cloud forest philodendron is a relatively easy grower and can adapt to a wide array of conditions from lower elevation to higher elevation temperatures thus making it a ideal subject as a windowsill subject, glass house subject, and even a landscaping plant if care is taken to not let this species be subject to near freezing temps. I consider this “bullet-proof” species a must for anyone who claims to not have a green thumb because of its very forgiving nature. Undersides of this philodendron will become a vibrant red if given consistent lighting.
