Anthurium sp. Morona (strap leaf)

$85.00 USD

A newer species still yet to be described. This strap leaf anthurium has only been found in the lower elevation forests of Morona Santiago province of southeastern Ecuador. We have only seen the species in the field one time (its initial discovery) with a friend from Ecuador who was able to introduce it into cultivation, which is where we obtained our stock. We both thought it to be another form of A. pallidiflorum since they were the same size and had darker foliage compared to other strap leaved species, but eventually we realized it was completely different and has been given the moniker "sp. Morona” until a taxonomist officially describes it.

The plant is fairly easy to grow but prefers warmer temperatures to grow well. It can also be grown as a houseplant, but will grow at a much faster rate in a warmer glasshouse setting.
