A widespread Andean fern found from Colombia down to Peru. Exsetipes is always found growing in cooler and higher elevations on moss covered rocks and branches. Care must be taken to not let this species be subject to higher temperatures of excessive heat 80+ and although not must, would benefit from a slight nighttime temperature drop to the 60s. We have found it will do decently in intermediate temperature terrariums per our experience where we grow masdevallia orchids but still recommend to more experienced growers only. Our plants are grown from founding stock from central Colombia and northern Peru.
