A newer introduction to the horticultural trade, we originally found this species right near our coffee farm. H. havlandii is one of the most unique looking Homalomena with its long narrow petioles and wide tear shaped leaves. It is found growing along watersheds in a wide variety of substrates in clearwater mountain streams at intermediate elevation levels.
