One of the more bigger axil leaved species very common in the pacific rainforests of southern Colombia and Ecuador. These bromeliads are the most utilized of all species of guzmania by dart frogs of the Choco. If you hear the calls of obligate egg feeding frogs I can bet you this guzmania will more than likely be present.
