A widespread species found throughout Ecuador (and most likely Amazonian Colombia and Peru) in lower and intermediate elevations. It was once thought that this species contained some sort of medial properties for stomach illnesses that I was told once by the Shuar indigenous of Ecuador however I have never seen any documentation or reports of any sort that described the genus of pilea holistically being utilized.
