A very rare species of bromeliad native from Panama all the way down to Peru in the higher cloud forest elevations. The flowers of this species are actually edible, which we learned this from natives of Colombia who regularly harvest them for food. Although this species is quite rare in cultivation it can be grown if provided the right conditions. In the field the plants grow directly in spahgnum moss on wet slopes that see to never dry out. We do not recommend growing this species in any other medium and strongly recommend providing it with RO or rainwater. We cultivate this species the same way we do our Racinaea bromeliads.
