A very unique rheophytic species only found in the northern Amazonas region of Ecuador. Often seen growing in water drainages along streams and in waterfalls, this species has adapted to thrive in very harsh conditions where most plants would simply rot. Stenophyllum can be grown without having to be placed in similar conditions but can easily grow in a high humidity environment. Care must be taken to not subject this species to consistent colder temperatures as it is prone to shock.
