Originally from the Gocta region of western Panama, this variant of sericineurea is much more vibrant in color than other locales, which tend to be mostly just green colored. Although this species is normally found growing in very wet areas such as in and near waterfalls, it can adapt to drier conditions with age once the plant has had a chance to grow and develop a thicker rhizome, even making it suitable as a houseplant. Our stock plants have attained heights close to 7’ in height but this species can easily be kept in check with regular cuttings to divide the plant into smaller ones.
