A somewhat widespread species of philodendron throughout the northern amazonas of South America. Stock plants are originally from Suriname and despite its relatively easy care requirements we recommend this species to anyone just trying their hand at exotic houseplants or for terrarium keeping because of its unique appearance with its vibrant red fuzzy petioles. It can acclimate to typical room temperatures but care must be taken to not subject this species to consistent temps below 50. On that note if grown in a warm glass house setting this species will reward you with faster growth and can make for a showy specimen in a short amount of time.
