Formerly known as Philodendron luxurians "El Choco Red," this philodendron has been debated many times the past few years of what it could really be. As its name claims, it was thought to be originate from the Choco region of Colombia, until someone found it growing in southern Ecuador and photos of it circulated online.
Unfortunately, there is no way of clarifying the actual origins of this species so it is still in review. What we do know, however, is that it is quite a showy and not fussy plant to care for so long as its basic requirements are met. Tried as a houseplant and glass house subject, this is a perfect philodendron for beginners wanting something a little more in visual appearance.
