This particular showy variant of Racinaea spiculosa was sourced from southern Ecuador near the Peruvian border many years ago. Native to Ecuador and Peru this Andean variant of a seldomly offered genus of bromeliads is fairly easy to grow and quite forgiving compared to other racinaea we grow in our nursery. Another bonus is that it stays on the smaller size compared to other bromeliads making it perfect for terraria so long as adequate ventilation and ro or rain water is provided.
