A very common species that occurs in much of the pichincha Andes. This yet to be confirmed species originally comes from near the Mindo region where it grows as a terrestrial in the leaf littler and amongst moss covered rocks and trees. The new foliage always emerges a deep purple but does tend to me a somewhat slow grower.
